New Learning Zone opened by local New Forest Photographer Kevan Brewer on Tuesday 9th September at 3pm
We recently applied and were successful in obtaining the funding to work with the Institute Of Physics for next two years to improve opportunities in Physics for our students. This includes the continued professional development of our teachers in the delivery of Science.
2016 GCSE Results
New Forest Academy’s GCSE results were a real testament to the hard work and commitment that students and teachers made, with 73% achieving grades A*-C in at least 5 GCSEs. English and maths results improved significantly, sitting at an impressive 73% and 63% respectively. 84% of students made expected progress in English, with 42% making well above expected progress. This is a real achievement as it shows that students made very good progress according to the new government measure. Performance in maths also moved from strength to strength with many more students making expected and above expected progress than had previously been the case (64% and 26% respectively). 87% of students also achieved a good grade in an IT qualification.
Principal Karen Godsall said, ‘Ofsted judges the academy as good for leadership, personal development, behaviour and welfare. We now have the exam results to prove that what we are doing is working and making a real difference to the life chances of the young people who attend the academy. We are absolutely thrilled that the hard work has paid off and that students now get the grades that they deserve.’
Many local parents are also delighted with the academy’s transformation. Notable student performances were:
